One of Australia’s leading brand distributors, managing an extensive portfolio of confectionery, snacks, and consumer goods. The business runs Infor M3 as its core ERP and Microsoft Fabric as its data and analytics platform. They required better intelligence on their supply chain and more proactive action.

Fortude addressed this by introducing two purpose-built AI agents: An Infor MCP Agent for live ERP interaction and a Fabric Data Agent for analytical queries.

Challenges

  • Supply chain teams needed deep M3 system knowledge (correct program names, transaction codes, and navigation paths) just to retrieve routine supply chain information.
  • Response times suffered when suppliers called with changes, approvals were pending, or order statuses needed checking.
  • Analytical insights (supplier performance, delivery patterns, order health) sat in the data platform but required pre-built reports or specialist support to access.
  • No single interface bridged live ERP data and broader analytics, requiring teams to switch between systems constantly.

Solution

Fortude introduced two AI agents, with an orchestrator layer sitting above both, automatically routing each query to the right agent without the user needing to know which system holds the answer.

The Infor MCP Agent connects directly to M3 via API for live transactional data and ERP actions through a natural language chat interface, without needing to log into M3.

Users can:

  • Check purchase order status and order line details
  • Respond to supplier requests (delivery date or quantity changes)
  • Approve POs and PO proposals
  • Update and cancel purchase order lines

The Fabric Data Agent connects to the Microsoft Fabric data lake and semantic model for the broader picture, enabling analytical and historical queries through the same chat interface, covering:

  • Supplier performance over time
  • Short delivery patterns
  • Order volume trends
  • Customer delivery health across the supply chain

Business outcomes

The time between a trigger event (supplier call, delivery exception, pending approval) and the action taken is reduced.

High-frequency ERP tasks no longer require deep M3 system knowledge to execute.

A single conversational interface replaces the need to move between M3 and reporting tools.

The modular design allows capability to expand to additional M3 modules and data domains as needs grow.

Next phase

Predictive capabilities including inventory reduction modelling, expiry and shelf-life management, and shipping optimisation. 

Longer term

A conversational intelligence layer spanning any operational domain where M3 and Fabric hold the data.
