Fortude held their annual corporate social responsibility event in early December 2018. The initiative provided stationary for 155 children at the SOS Children’s Village Piliyandala for their upcoming school year. Fund raising was through the efforts of employee donations and ‘The Romali de Silva Foundation’ at Fortude.
Since inception, Fortude has aimed on providing educational facilities for the underprivileged children. This is due to the shared belief of both the management and employees, that children are the future of our country. Hence, even underprivileged children are entitled to equal and fair opportunities for learning and growth.
The session began with a welcome speech by the National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka Mr. Divakar Ratnadurai welcoming the Fortude team. It was then followed by a choreographed dance of children of SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka, inspiring everyone present. Mr. Dilina Gunathilake, Manager HR made a speech on the initiation and Fortude’s aim to make education accessible to all children. Next, the team began handing over stationary packs to the children. It was then followed by morning tea and snacks along with Christmas themed cupcake for every child which was a pleasant treat for the children.
SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka have been active in Sri Lanka for 37 years with 6 Children’s Villages located in Piliyandala, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, Anuradhapura, Monaragala & Jaffna. SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka through their Children’s Villages Care and Family Strengthening Programs works on enabling the long-term support towards children who are at the risk of losing parental care, permitting each child and youth to cultivate resilient relationships to confidently overcome future life challenges. Currently there are nearly 4000 children sheltered under both Family Like Care and Family Strengthening programs of SOS Children’s Villages.
Fortude is an IT organization that is part of the Brandix Group who has been in operation since 2012. The company has offices around USA, UK, Australia, India and Sri Lanka with a global team of more than 200 employees. The organization focuses on providing new opportunities through the company’s employee-centric culture.
The Romali De Silva Foundation was initiated by her parents following the untimely death of our colleague in April 2017. The family has been funding many charities around Colombo and have helped build houses for a few underprivileged families across Sri Lanka. They continue to join with Fortude on their CSR efforts in the future.
